Last year we posted a video on how to make your own spiked winter motorcycle tires.
We’ve learned a lot since then:
- They work amazingly well.
- They also last surprisingly long.
- If you don’t do it right, you’ll get lots of flat tires.
- There are a lot of things you can do to make the whole job easier
- and much more…
So here is our updated video:

I left a comment on the video on YouTube, but I’m not sure if you guys will see it. I am trying to do this to my tires but I am having trouble with getting the nuts to screw onto the screws. They just get stuck. If you have any tips for making this easier I would appreciate it. Thanks
Hi Cody, The nuts cross-thread onto the screws, so they are definitely hard to put on. Make sure you have the same diameter of concrete screws that we used and that you’re using 1/4-20 nuts. You’ll need to hold the screw head pretty firmly from the inside with a Phillips screw driver. It’s easier to get them started if the socket you are using doesn’t let the nut push up into the socket so that you can put pressure on the nut. Hope that helps! Let us know how it goes.
