The Story

After working together on the concept for two years, Daan Stehouwer and Trent Schumann incorporated WANDURO in 2017. WANDURO’s purpose is to inspire riders to get out and enjoy the beautiful riding accessible with adventure, dualsport and enduro motorcycles. We do this via our online community on Facebook, YouTube videos, Instagram gallery and WANDR Adventure Moto Navigation events.

In 2016 we co-organized the HUMM Canadian Rockies event in Panorama BC. Daan’s wizardry with GPSs and Garmin Mapsource along with Trent’s experience in organizing corporate teambuilding events and scavenger hunts made for a perfect combination. The event was a resounding success.

Based upon this initial success, we got busy putting together a concept we called the WANDR. A back country Adventure Moto Navigation event. For the next two years, we planned, scouted and refined the concept.

It was a lot of hours and a lot of work. We even had to repair trails, clear deadfall and chop through thick stands of willows. One trail in particular required several days of work. Daan cleared the big stuff with the chainsaw while Trent hacked away at the willows. Many weekends and vacation days went into it.

One of the main components was the development of the WANDURO App to eliminate bulky paper books, gamify the navigation with a Dakar-inspired navigation tool, and to automatically tally points.

It all came together when we presented WANDR2018 in the Canadian Rockies. With 140 attendees from all over Western North America, it put a lot of smiles on a lot of riders’ faces. All of the work was worth it.

At the end of 2018, with growing job responsibilities and travel requirements, Daan decided it was best put his focus on his career and sold his share of WANDURO to Trent. Daan’s contribution was a big part of WANDURO’s rapid success and we’re grateful for the solid foundation he helped create.

With this solid foundation, Trent continues to grow WANDURO and along with the WANDR support team will design more WANDR events.

In the future, look for more online content, community building and possibly additional WANDR events in Canada, the USA and other parts of the world.
